4 Clever Ways to Add Warmth to a Home

4 Clever Ways to Add Warmth to a Home

Open floor plans have been a popular style in new homes for more than a decade. And while they offer plenty of options for filling a space, they can also make your home feel colder or emptier than you’d like.

That doesn’t mean you can’t make an open-concept home feel cozy, though. If you’re ready to add some warmth to your space without a full renovation, try these simple strategies.

Create zones with rugs and furniture. A well-placed area rug, table and sofa can help establish more definition in how your space is used. It also adds depth to a room. You can even set unique color palettes for each zone if that matches your style.

Use your lighting wisely. Strategic lighting can help draw your eyes to certain parts of a space and give different areas their own moods. For example, sconces or a floor lamp might work in your “study” zone, while brighter pendant lights could work better in a high-traffic area like the kitchen.

Think vertically as well as horizontally. This is especially important if your open-concept home has high ceilings. To really make this layout feel cozy, make sure your decor stretches upward, too. Think tall shelves full of books and curios, floor-to-ceiling drapery and large statement chandeliers.

Add some plants to the space. Nothing makes a room feel homier than flowers and greenery. Just be sure to vary your choices based on the use of the space. Consider elevating your workspace with a bonsai, using a fresh herb garden in the kitchen or adding a welcoming touch to your entryway with a vase of flowers.

No matter what type of home you want, we can work together to find it. Get in touch today to ask questions or start your search.
